Happy Birthday Nanna!

We are wishing Nanna a very happy day today… and also wishing we could be there to celebrate (and read books) together! Maeve woke up this morning making the sign for book, so she’s ready… she also waved bye-bye to me yesterday when I left for work yesterday. Such a smart communicator!

11 months old already?

Maeve is closing in on her big 1st birthday… I wish I could say we were at the children’s museum or out enjoying Tisa in Millennium Park and the air show this weekend, but Maeve and Mommy are fighting a stomach bug and it’s raining 🙁 We did make it to our last Wiggleworms class of the summer on Friday and have uploaded many new pictures from the last few weeks. We found a sippy cup that she likes – it has a straw. Maeve is doing a lot of pointing and chatting, and is fascinated with poking and prodding people’s faces! She is also very strong – knocking towers of blocks down and pushing the large exercise ball around the house. She can hold on while standing at the ottoman or her music table, but isn’t cruising yet. She will walk down the hall holding onto our hands though!

August is here…

We have been enjoying the summer (and the heat!) and last weekend we had a fun outing to the Garfield Park Conservatory to play with nature. We also took Maeve to her first street festival in Chicago to see her favorite singer, Justin Roberts! There are some new pictures in the gallery…

This weekend we are excited to attend Paula’s wedding in Lansing and see our friends.

Maeve is such a busy girl – she’s crawling very fast now (particularly when chasing a cat!), trying to pull herself up to stand, and learning to communicate. She understands ball, book and answers the question “are you hungry?” with lip and tongue smacking! She loves helping out in the kitchen too, rearranging the stools and banging her utensils together. In the running for cutest new development – Maeve has changed from a side sleeper to a tummy sleeper in the last few weeks. The best part is that her butt is usually up in the air!
