Maeve is so lucky to have her Daddy and Grandad – two wonderful role models, and fun, loving, smart men who adore her. She loves them very much and worked hard on cards and picture frames to honor them on this special day! We want to extend a virtual pat-on-the-back to all the new daddies who are our family and friends as well.

We had a nice visit with Grandma in Chicago this weekend, complete with a nice dinner out and a trip to the Green City Market and Zoo! She also babysat so that we could spend time with some good friends at a beautiful wedding. Last week we had a couple of fun outings despite the stormy weather. Maeve got to see her first movie in a theater – it was Madagascar 2 and I thought it was quite funny. She sat through the whole thing (the last part on my lap) and seemed to really enjoy it. We went with her friends Olivia, Charlie and Daniel. We also had a fun playdate at her friend Gwen’s house and a playgroup party at Reilly’s house.

I am really excited for Maeve to meet my friend Tammy’s baby Grace next weekend as we roadtrip to Minneapolis! Before then, we are just hoping we can actually make it to the pool…

Maeve is taking charge – phrases like “my do it” and “I do it all myself” are frequent these days as she approaches age 3. She has insisted on climbing into the car by herself these past few days, loves to pull her boots on and take off her jacket, shoes and socks. She even has started to pick out her clothes. I realize this is all great for her development and that I should be thankful it didn’t happen sooner, but it sure presents some new frustrations for her. Of course, most choices are acceptable and she usually asks for help when she needs it…but there are still things she can’t do so as wonderful as it is to hear her pride when she does accomplish something, there are many more times where she loses her patience and temper.

We moved her crib this weekend because she was opening her door and turning on her light when it was time to sleep – she was a little under the weather but took the adjustment in stride. We did make it down to see Justin Roberts at the Lit Fest. Maeve wasn’t really herself and I sung and danced more than her, but she did enjoy the train ride downtown and back!

We had our last official Little Gym class today and Maeve got a medal in the cutest awards ceremony for the kids. We will have one last makeup on Thursday and are signed up again for the Fall!

We had the privilege of babysitting for our cousin Lucy today and I posted some cute new pictures of the girls playing. They were both perfect and I loved my cuddle time with Lucy in Maeve’s old sling! The rest of this week will be spent praying for the Red Wings to win Game 7 and looking forward to a visit from Auntie Beth & Uncle Matt this weekend!
