MERRY CHRISTMAS!

We wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and feel blessed to have seen so many of our friends and family this holiday season. We have posted some fun pictures of our celebrations! Hope Santa was good to you…

15 months this week!

Maeve had a good checkup tonight and got high marks for her emerging communication skills and advancing physical capabilities. She is teething right now and it seems to be a bit painful for her – all molars appear to be coming in at once! Aunt Heather had the closest guess on Maeve’s weight…she is still tracking on the low end of the curve because as Aunt Heather predicted, “if she’s running about, she’s walking off her gains!”

Measurements:

Weight: 18 lbs. 12 oz. (5th percentile)

Length: 30.5″ (50th percentile)

Head: 18 1/2″ (75th percentile)

Standing up and walking away…fast!

Yesterday (and many more times today!) was the first time that Maeve stood up without holding on to something to pull herself up! She is more and more stable each day and loves to dance. She has correctly identified several body parts including her nose and her feet too! Look out…she’s up, she’s going, and she’s gone.

Brrrr

Winter has arrived and so has the snow, but we are excited about the holiday season now that our home is decked out! We had a wonderful time at Grandma’s over Thanksgiving, and then a fun girls’ weekend in Chicago with Grandma, Nanna and Auntie Beth. We had a special outing to the Walnut Room and there was lots of decorating to get us in the spirit.

Maeve has been working hard on her skills – she is walking very fast now and can even walk backwards pulling her doll’s stroller! She has recently been able to squat down to pick up a toy and then stand back up without holding on to anything. She also is communicating with many signs now and responding to questions. My current favorite is when asked about going to Miss Julie’s music class, Maeve says “ooh, ah” which is part of a song they sing together! She is very interested in helping to feed herself too, and does well with both her spoon and fork with some assistance in getting the food on the utensil to begin with. Maeve loves to empty drawers and cupboards (especially mommy’s bedside table) and can identify her name on the wall in her room too! We are very proud of her accomplishments!

There are some cute pictures in the photo gallery, and we hope to have more after a fun-filled weekend of playdates and a trip to Cantigny for the Children’s Christmas Party! Stay warm…
