23 months old!

First – happy belated birthday to Nanna and happy birthday to Auntie Anne! I am so behind in updating the site, but it’s been a busy couple of weeks! We had such a wonderful trip to Michigan – I finally posted the photos from Cheboygan in the photo gallery. We took a trip to Mackinac Island one day on Nanna and Grandad’s boat, had picnics, swam and rode bikes. Maeve had her first dinghy ride into town and listened so well about wearing her life jacket and holding hands on the dock! Maeve and Duffy played in the field and on the boat together, and Maeve learned how to roll down the hill and perform a somersault by herself. Aunt Peggy visited us for a few days, and we got to see Grandma and Auntie Beth and some of Uncle Matt’s family on our way back to Chicago too. Maeve was such a good traveler and we had lots of fun.

The highlights last week were a date night to the Cubs game with fellow K alums, Maeve counting to ten in Spanish and some dinner playdates with girlfriends while Daddy was out of town. Then Mommy spent a fun weekend away at Tammy’s house to meet her baby Grace who is 7 weeks old! It was nice to have a break from chasing a toddler to having a newborn asleep in your arms most of the day…

This week we went to the Zoo and attended our friend Charlie’s birthday party. We hope to get in another day at the pool and then look forward to going to the MI dunes this weekend with April and Miguel! I will try to post more pictures soon.

On the road again…

We’re off today for our MI tour – first stop, Grandma’s house! Then it’s off to Nanna and Grandad’s boat which is stationed up in Cheboygan. It will be interesting to see how Maeve and Duffy navigate that space together… Then we’ll head back down to Grandma’s before coming home next weekend. Mommy will even get a night off when she celebrates at Auntie Beth’s bachelorette party!

We had some really fun playdates this past week, at our house and at our friends’ houses… We also finished up our music class with a picnic in the park. We hope you are enjoying what’s left of the summer too! I am so excited that the Olympics are underway – the opening ceremonies were breathtaking – but I haven’t been able to do anything with my videos since they require some type of conversion before I can edit them on my Mac. Stay tuned…

It’s August already?

We had a fun week to close out July with more swimming, trips to the Brookfield and Lincoln Park Zoos, and Maeve even won her very first raffle – a free book from our local library! She picked a boardbook entitled “Eco Babies Wear Green,” which Daddy particularly liked. Aunt Peggy was passing through town, so it was a highlight to see her and Aunt Katie this week too!

Maeve’s new phrase is “me too!” which is simply priceless. She loves riding on the carousels at the zoos and running through the sprinkler – either in our yard or at the park. I got some new pictures posted and will continue to make attempts to get videos up. This coming week I will be consumed with excitement about the Olympics though, so I might not be able to focus on anything but that!
