Congratulations Auntie Beth and Uncle Matt!

Maeve was a bit unsure as to her flower girl role, despite our weeks of practice at home with tissue paper and her bucket. Friday night’s rehearsal left me wondering what the wedding day would bring, but fortunately, instead of trying to throw flower petals as originally planned, Maeve carried a beautiful pomander down the aisle! She started to go when the runner was first extended, but then patiently waited and shouted “Maeve’s turn!” when it was time to go. She made it halfway before realizing that everyone was looking at her, at which time she set down the pomander and turned to walk back up the aisle. Luckily I was walking behind her, so I just took her hand, picked up the pomander and we made it to our seats without incident. She was so well behaved throughout the ceremony and we are so proud of her!

The wedding was simply stunning – Beth and Matt looked amazing and the setting on beach (complete with a perfect Lake Michigan sunset) took everyone’s breath away. The food was ridiculously good and everyone had a wonderful time! Maeve even danced the night away after enjoying bubbles on the deck with some of the other kids. I uploaded many pictures – hopefully we’ll get some of us walking down the aisle though, since obviously we couldn’t take any during that part of the celebration!

Final count – Auntie Beth wore three pairs of shoes, and Maeve wore three outfits during the festivities. A good time was definitely had by all!

October events

We had such a busy and fun weekend – we went to the Chicago Botanic Garden with Nanna & Grandad on Friday, celebrated Megan’s baby shower on Saturday, and then attended two friends’ birthday parties yesterday. We capped it off with a yummy ribs dinner at Twin Anchors, which turned into a pumpkin sticker fest! Daddy is off to DC this morning for the week, and then the happy events continue next weekend with Auntie Beth & Uncle Matt’s wedding! We’ll head over to Grandma’s on Friday to begin the festivities… Maeve is a flower girl so we will have many more pretty-party-dress photos to share!

Grandad’s playground study

When I took a picture of Maeve with my dad’s camera at Independence Park during my parents’ last visit, my dad said “I have the same picture of you.” I don’t know how he did it, but he found it and included it in the photos he shared…
For your amusement, I present myself and my daughter – a study in playground photos 30ish years apart!

PHOTO UPDATE: I also added some new photos to Maeve’s 2nd birthday album, thanks to my dad’s efforts.

Infant to child

Today I bought my first Children’s Tylenol for Maeve. She is officially on to “children’s” medicine – no more “infant” labels for her! Of course, it’s harder every day to ignore the signs that our baby is growing up… She loves to make her own choices, from which shoes to wear to which stories to read before bed. She certainly lets us know when she’s unhappy with a decision we make for her!

She is really enjoying her new building, stacking and counting toys, as well as her puzzles and trucks. We’ve got a bit of a farm theme going for our city kid as well – between visits to see the cows and goats at the zoo, her new play farm and books! We visited the Nature Museum this week and are attending a reading of Corduroy at the library for a Guinness Book of World Records event with our friends Nikki and Gwen. This weekend is relatively quiet, as we gear up for the excitement of baby showers and weddings this month!

NEW PHOTO ALERT – I added photos to the Cheboygan album…finally got some of my dad’s best included. My favorite is Maeve kissing Duffy on the nose. Enjoy!
