Two new videos

I added two recent videos in a new Video Gallery for 2009 – they are unedited, but pretty fun. We think Maeve is brilliant and hilarious! I still have plenty of raw footage of her that I’d love to make into fancy movies… but this will have to do for now. Hope you enjoy them!

28 months old

First, happy belated birthday to Grandad! We had such fun celebrating the weekend before his birthday (same weekend as Katie’s birthday celebrations!) with a special dinner and I’ve posted some pictures of course.

Maeve and I have been keeping busy with her classes and playdates. Our favorite thing to do has been visiting our new cousin Lucy! We’ve had some fun outings to the Nature Museum and a new play place called Day Frog too. We have a busy weekend coming up which includes our friend Aoife’s birthday party at Pump-It-Up – the place with the inflatable bouncy houses, slides and obstacle courses.

Now that Maeve is 28 months old, she is really asserting her demands and we are trying to offer her reasonable choices to ensure that she gets a say in the negotiable decisions. She is still very enthusiastic and agreeable about our outings and visitors, but as with any toddler, Maeve does much better with the transitions when we talk about things in advance. She is starting to play really well with her friends (sharing & offering toys, giving lots of hugs) and has definite interests. She loves using her new art easel and is doing an amazing jobs with her letters, numbers, colors and shapes thanks to her love of puzzles.

This weekend, Mommy is looking forward to trying out a new exercise regime (and helping Maeve try out playing in the child care facility at the Y), getting pampered before a girls’ night, and a date night with Daddy. And next weekend we are going back to the Dells for some waterpark fun!

Happy New Year!

I got the holiday photos organized and showcased a couple of our fun outings to the Zoo and the Botanic Garden. I will need some photos from Grandad to include our visit to the Museum of Science & Industry since I forgot my camera that day… In addition to our Chicago fun, we made a trip to Michigan to visit Grandma, Auntie Beth and Uncle Matt! Next weekend, the celebrations continue with Katie’s 30th birthday and Master’s Degree graduation.

Nanna and Grandad have been such a big help to us during their visit, and it’s going to be entirely too quiet with everyone gone and Chris traveling this week. Maeve will resume her classes this week, continuing music with Ms. Julie and starting a painting art class and gymnastics, both through the park district. Our Little Gym class doesn’t start until the end of January… We hope to see our playgroup friends too, since we were all on hiatus over the holidays.

Another highlight was Maeve meeting her first 1st cousin Lucy on Friday! She was very taken with Lucy, staring at her in her carrier and saying “baby sleeping.” She will get another chance to admire her this week when we go over there to visit.

So much fun has been had by all this holiday season! Hope your 2009 is as exciting as ours…
