Happy Birthday Aunt Megan!

I never updated after Memorial Day weekend – sorry. We had a really fun night out to dinner with our Restaurant Club friends from Kalamazoo College on Friday night, then a great trip up to Madison to visit our friends Karen and Mike. Their daughter Sierra is only one month younger than Maeve, so it was such a ball to watch them play! On Memorial Day we enjoyed a barbeque with the Steeves and Zlatka took Maeve back over to play with Gwen later in the week. We had a bit of a rough week with Maeve and Mommy both sick, but we recovered nicely and had a wonderful weekend with Nanna and Grandad visiting. We had Aunt Peggy, Larry and Auntie Anne over on Friday night for dinner and went to Aunt Megan and Uncle Pat’s for a BBQ on Saturday to celebrate Aunt Megan’s birthday. Today was spent gardening!

In other exciting developments, Maeve cut her first tooth on Friday and is trying really hard to figure out how to crawl! She’ll get her arms and legs moving and get her butt up off the ground, but can’t quite put it all together. There are many new photos and a few new fun videos in the galleries…

1st Mother’s Day and 8 months old!

We had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend with grandparents, aunts and uncles on hand to help celebrate! We even planted a new tree in our front yard to commemorate the special occasion – thanks Grandma! A team of 20 friends and family (and Duffy!) participated in the Y-Me walk for breast cancer. Team FAFA photos can be seen in the photo gallery and here:

Maeve has been busy trying new fruits (peaches, plums), veggies (green beans, corn), and even chicken. She also appears to love cheese as much as mommy does. She has been exhibiting lots of new purposeful and very loud babbling, including something that sounds like “baba” which Chris says means “daddy” in Chinese.

Daddy was traveling this week and the girls held down the fort. Maeve and Zlatka spent lots of time in the park having picnics and meeting new people. Today Maeve and mommy had a fun time at breakfast and Wiggleworms with our friends, and enjoyed our first trip to the Lincoln Park Zoo – the meerkats were Maeve’s favorite!  Tomorrow, she celebrates being 8 months old. We have swimming class in the morning and Auntie Anne is coming to babysit while mommy and daddy get dressed up for a night on the town to benefit Erikson Institute.

There are many folders with new pictures in the photo gallery… Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Minnesota trip

The Altmans had a fun trip to Minneapolis last weekend to visit Tammy and celebrate her marriage to Tim… They showed off their new home and we really enjoyed spending time with the newlyweds and their families. Maeve was a perfect traveler, although she did sleep right through her 1st first class experience! Please visit the photo gallery for some new pictures…

Busy weekend

Maeve and mommy had a fun day on Friday with our playgroup in the morning, coffee date with Nikki and Gwen, and Wiggleworms class. Then we ventured downtown for a visit to mommy’s work! Saturday was Maeve’s first swimming lesson at the YMCA – she loved every minute, kicking and splashing with daddy. We also had a fun time with April and Miguel who came for a visit, and a nice dinner out with Christi and Martin. New foods this week included butternut squash and a yummy apple/pear blend with cinnamon. Next up…green beans! There are some new photos in the gallery…

Thank you for your votes!

Apologies to the grandparents, but we had to go with popular opinion on one of our favorites – the monkey pic (#2) has been submitted to the Babytalk magazine cover contest. Thank you to everyone who voted! The rules say that the semi-finalists will be chosen “based equally on the personality and charm of photo subjects as conveyed by their photo.” We should be notified by May 31 if Maeve is chosen as one of the eight semi-finalists. FYI – there are so many wonderful photos of Maeve and we love the one up top as well, but the photo had to be taken within one month of submission and we snapped that one back in February in Florida so it didn’t qualify…

7 months old today!

Maeve is seven months old today and has been a busy girl! The new food she tried this week was papaya, and she and Zlatka have been playing outside since the weather has finally improved. She is looking forward to spending time with her Grandma, Auntie Beth and Matt who are coming to visit this weekend. We will have lots of fun pictures to share!

Maeve’s movies

We are thrilled to announce that we have added a video gallery to the site! There is a link on the top bar next to our photo gallery link. These snippets will allow you to see and hear Maeve as she learns new things, manipulates her toys and tests out the sound of her own voice. Enjoy!

Easter Weekend

We had lots of fun visiting with family and friends in Michigan this weekend, celebrating Easter and Mommy’s birthday! Maeve enjoyed her colorful high chair at Nanna and Grandad’s house, and visited Auntie Beth’s house for the first time. As usual, this cherished time went by too quickly but we have some great pictures and memories of the fun. Please see the updated albums in the photo gallery…

Sitting up tall!

It’s official – Maeve is sitting without support these days. She’s been getting stronger and more stable by the day and she falls over less and less often.

First foods in the past week included applesauce, broccoli, pears and carrots. These purees – all homemade so far – were met with interest and very little protest. Maeve’s really getting the hang of eating her solids! Her first foods folder in the photo gallery has been updated with pictures…and that’s not the only folder with new ones. As always, check the dates on the folders to see which ones have had pictures added recently.

Happy Easter – we should have some fun pictures from our Michigan weekend posted early next week!

Weekend update

Maeve has been a busy gal this weekend… she attended her Wiggleworms music class on Friday (we signed up to continue it through June!) and helped mommy do some grocery shopping. She tried bananas for the first time and was all smiles! Saturday we went to the Bastedos’ for brunch – Emily had her son Charlie only a couple of weeks after Maeve was born. Charlie was also a caterpillar for Halloween and had his first airplane trip to Florida too, so they have lots in common! Maeve’s friend Mia was at brunch too – some cute pictures can be found in the photo gallery.

Today the Altmans went for a stroll and stopped at Tony’s – it’s a beautiful spring day in Chicago with temperatures approaching 80! Maeve enjoyed a new perspective as she rode facing out in her big-girl stroller.
